Chronology :
March 2022
On March 14, 2022, HMMA informed NASO of a condition detected during inspection of newly built vehicles involving cracks on the turbocharger oil feed pipe that may cause oil to leak onto adjoining components in the engine compartment. HMMA confirmed that the oil pipe(s) were produced within a specific production date range identified by the supplier and most vehicles known to have been equipped with the suspect components were identified and contained prior to dealer shipment.
Based on this information, NASO quickly convened its North America Safety Decision Authority on March 21, 2022 and decided to initiate Recall 222 to replace the suspect turbocharger oil feed pipe in sixteen (16)
Hyundai vehicles that were sold to dealers prior to HMMA’s audit.
As of the date of this filing, Hyundai is not aware of any confirmed crashes, injuries or fires attributable to the recall condition. No related field claims have occurred in the U.S.
