Description: The procedure describes the procedure to check the ATF level for 8-speed Rear-Wheel-Drive vehicles
Applicable Vehicles:
2012~16 Genesis Sedan (BH, DH
2012~16 Equus (VI)
2013~16 Genesis Coupe (BK)
PARTS INFORMATION:
Part Name | Description | Part Number |
Hyundai SPH-IV-RR | 8-speed ATF | 00232-19052 |
NOTICE
Use only ATF meeting the SPH-IV-RR specification approved by Hyundai. Do not use SP-III, SPH-IV or other ATF which may result in degradation of shift quality.
ATF LEVEL INSPECTION:
1. Remove the plastic shield under the transmission.
2. If the ATF has been completely drained, go to Step 3.
To check the ATF level, go to Step 5.
3. Turn the engine off, shift to Neutral and lift the vehicle on a hoist.
Use an 8mm or 5/16” hex wrench and remove the fill plug and washer.
4. Remove the level check plug.
Use a fluid pump or suction gun to add SP-IV-RR ATF through the fill plug until ATF flows from the level check plug.
Reinstall the level check plug and fill plug.
NOTICE
Use only SP-IV-RR ATF, P/N 00232-19052.
5. Attach a GDS and select vehicle, Data Analysis, A/T menu and Oil Temperature Sensor.
Move the shift lever from P-R-D and back to P. Drive the vehicle until the ATF is at the low end of the range of 122~140°F (50~60°C).
6. Start the engine, shift to Neutral and raise the vehicle on a hoist.
Remove the fill plug and level check plug.
Add SP-IV-RR ATF through the fill plug until ATF flows out the level check plug in a steady stream.
Reinstall the level check plug.
Torque: 16~18 lb-ft (2.3~2.5 kgf.m, 22~24 N.m)
Reinstall the fill plug and washer.
Torque: 25~33 lb.ft (3.5~4.5 kgf.m, 34~44 N.m)
ATF TEMPERATURE = 122~140°F (50~60°C)
SHIFT LEVER IN “N” AND ENGINE RUNNING
Maintenance Schedule:
Driving Condition | ATF Maintenance |
Normal service | No inspection or replacement |
Severe service | Replace ATF every 60,000 miles |
Severe service is defined as:
- Frequent driving on mountain roads
- Repeated short distance driving of 5~10 miles
- Frequent driving in heavy traffic or stop-and-go conditions with extensive idling for long distances
- Trailer towing or commercial operation such as a taxi
