) is recalling certain 2023 Genesis
GV60 vehicles equipped with an all-wheel drive powertrain system. The rear driveshafts may fracture, which can result in a loss of drive power.
Remedy
Dealers will replace the left and right rear driveshafts, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed June 25, 2023. Owners may contact Hyundai
customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai
’s number for this recall is 014G.

Recommended Alternative Transportation:
Retailer should offer service valet to all customers and if customer does not feel safe operating their vehicle until the remedy has been performed. Service Valet is available to the original owner for 3/36. The customer could also get a loaner (CVP) if a recall/warranty repair(s) is needed beyond 3/36 (Service Valet benefit has expired for original owner).

CHRONOLOGY OF EVENTS LEADING UP TO DEFECT DECISION
March 2023
❖ On March 9, 2023, NASO’s Data Review Committee initiated a new investigation into rear driveshafts equipped on certain model year 2023 Genesis
GV60 vehicles produced by HMC for sale in the U.S. The investigation was based on incident reports of fractured rear driveshafts equipped on substantially similar vehicles sold in Korea and Europe.
❖ On March 10, 2023, HMC began inventory inspections of vehicles retained at ports and vehicle processing centers located in Korea and the U.K. Of the 333 vehicles inspected, 29 vehicles contained driveshafts with suspect damage. The identified driveshafts were produced by the supplier from October 2022 through November 2022.
❖ On March 17, 2023, HMC began testing using driveshaft samples recovered from the inspected vehicles. The driveshafts were analyzed for stress, strength, and durability under various static and dynamic conditions. Test results were shared with NASO on March 30, 3023.
April 2023
❖ Based on HMC’s findings, a new inspection plan was implemented on April 12, 2023, and includes ports and processing centers in the U.S. market. During this time, HMC received an additional incident report from the U.K. involving a damaged driveshaft produced in June 2022, prompting further evaluation of the suspect driveshaft production range. Considering the new findings, NASO requested HMC to assess potential global market field actions addressing vehicles equipped with driveshafts from the current suspect production period, as well as those produced within one month prior for further evaluation of the affected vehicle population.
❖ On April 19, 2023, NASO convened its North America Safety Decision Authority and decided to conduct a safety recall of affected U.S.-specification vehicles potentially equipped with suspect rear driveshafts produced by the supplier from late May 2022 through early December 2022.
❖ At the time of this filing, Hyundai
is not aware of any incident(s) related to this condition involving subject vehicles in the U.S., including fatalities, injuries, crashes, and fires. Globally, Hyundai
has identified five (5) total incidents involving fractured rear driveshafts in vehicles from Korea and the U.K.
