Description: The roof moldings on certain 2022MY Tucson and 2022 – 2023MY Santa Cruz vehicles may detach during operation due to insufficient retention between the roof flange and mounting clips. A detached roof molding could create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash. This bulletin describes the procedure to inspect, and if necessary, replace the affected roof moldings.
Applicable Vehicles:
• Certain 2022MY Tucson (NX4A) vehicles produced between 2/3/2021 – 9/25/2021
(VINs beginning with “5NM”).
• Certain 2022 – 2023MY Santa Cruz (NXT) vehicles produced between 6/8/2021 – 8/10/2022
(VINs beginning with “5NT”).
Vehicle repairs related to safety recalls are critically important and must be performed properly in accordance with TSB procedures. Review this bulletin in its entirety prior to beginning any repair work. As required by federal law, dealers must not deliver new vehicles for sale or for lease to customers until all open recalls have been performed. Dealers must also perform all open recalls on used vehicles, demo, and rental vehicles prior to placing them into customer use and whenever an affected vehicle is in the shop for any maintenance or repair. 1. Use a thin plastic trim removal tool to
inspect the roof moldings (A). A

Gently pry up on the roof moldings (A) to
measure the gap between the roof body panel. Inspect both roof moldings (A) at the front, middle, and rear sections. i Information Do not use excessive force when prying up on the roof molding. If the roof molding comes loose during inspection, it must be replaced. 2. If the gaps between the roof moldings (A) and roof body panel are measured to be less than 5 mm (3/16 in) along all front, middle, and rear sections, no further action is required. If the gaps between the roof moldings (A) A
and roof body panel are measured to be more than 5 mm (3/16 in.) in any section, the affected roof molding(s) must be replaced. Proceed to the next page. STUI
Using STUI, take photos of the gap measurements between the roof moldings and roof body panel. Include in the photos a piece of paper containing the last 6 digits of the VIN and the date of the repair. Upload the photos to STUI. B 3. If a flange(s) (B) is found to be damaged or has an abnormal shape, repair the flange(s) back to its original shape using the appropriate body repair manual procedures.

Install the new roof molding(s) (A) onto the vehicle. Secure the front clip first, the rear clip second, then the remaining clips afterwards.
8. Wait 10 minutes for the sealant to cure. 9. The service procedure is now complete.
To ensure the clips are fully secured, apply pressure until a click sound is heard.

Hyundai has decided that a defect, which relates to motor vehicle safety, exists in certain 2022 Model Year Tucson and 2022 – 2023 Model Year Santa Cruz vehicles. To ensure the safety of its vehicles for Hyundai customers, we are initiating Safety Recall 241 to repair a condition involving the roof moldings on these vehicles in the U.S. Our records indicate that your vehicle is affected by this recall. What is the problem?
The roof moldings in the subject vehicles may detach during operation due to insufficient retention between the roof flange and mounting clips. A detached roof molding could create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash. What will Hyundai do?

A2: 1) Certain 2022 model year Hyundai Tucson vehicles produced on February 3, 2021 through September 25, 2021 by Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (“HMMA”) for sale in the U.S. market.
2) Certain 2022-23 model year Hyundai Santa Cruz vehicles produced on June 8, 2021 through August 10, 2022 by Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (“HMMA”) for sale in the U.S. market. Q3: What is the safety concern?
A3: A detached roof molding could create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash. Q4: Have there been any accidents or injuries?
A4: As of the date of the filing (01/31/23), Hyundai has confirmed 336 related incidents involving Hyundai Tucson vehicles, and 106 related incidents involving Santa Cruz vehicles, from reports received by Hyundai from April 5, 2021 to December 1, 2022. There are no confirmed crashes, injuries, or fires related to this condition. Q5: Stop Sale?
A5: Dealer: A dealer “stop sale” was issued in accordance with federal regulation for affected vehicles unsold at dealers.
Port: As of the date of the filing (01/31/23), there are no affected vehicles located at ports. Q6: What will be done during the recall service at the dealer?
A6: All owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail with instructions to bring their vehicles to a Hyundai dealer to inspect and secure/replace the roof moldings, if necessary. This remedy will be offered at no cost to owners for all affected vehicles, regardless of whether the affected vehicles are still covered under Hyundai’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Additionally, Hyundai will provide owners of affected vehicles reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain a remedy for the recall condition in accordance with the reimbursement plan submitted to NHTSA on February 24, 2022. A1:The roof moldings in the subject vehicles may detach during operation due to insufficient retention between the roof flange and mounting clips. Q2: What are the affected vehicles?
A2: 1) Certain 2022 model year Hyundai Tucson vehicles produced on February 3, 2021 through September 25, 2021 by Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (“HMMA”) for sale in the U.S. market.
2) Certain 2022-23 model year Hyundai Santa Cruz vehicles produced on June 8, 2021 through August 10, 2022 by Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama (“HMMA”) for sale in the U.S. market. Q3: What is the safety concern?
A3: A detached roof molding could create a road hazard for other vehicles, increasing the risk of a crash. Q4: Have there been any accidents or injuries?
A4: As of the date of this filing (01/31/23), Hyundai has confirmed 336 related incidents involving Hyundai Tucson vehicles, and 106 related incidents involving Santa Cruz vehicles, from reports received by Hyundai from April 5, 2021 to December 1, 2022. There are no confirmed crashes, injuries, or fire related to this condition. Q5: Stop Sale?
A5: Dealer: A dealer “stop sale” has been issued in accordance with federal regulation for affected vehicles unsold at dealers. The stop will commence with the filing of the 573 to NHTSA.
Port: As of the date of this filing, there are no affected vehicles located at ports. Q6: What will be done during the recall service at the dealer?
A6: Once an official remedy is available, all owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail with instructions to bring their vehicles to a Hyundai dealer to have the remedy completed free of charge, regardless of whether the affected vehicles are still covered under Hyundai’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty.
Hyundai will provide owners of affected vehicles reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain a remedy for the recall condition in accordance with the reimbursement plan submitted to NHTSA on February 24,2022. Q7: When will owners be notified?

Description of Remedy :
Description of Remedy Program : All owners of the subject vehicles will be notified by first class mail with
instructions to bring their vehicles to a Hyundai dealer to inspect and secure/replace the roof moldings, if necessary. This remedy will be offered at no cost to owners for all affected vehicles, regardless of whether the affected vehicles are still covered under Hyundai’s New Vehicle Limited Warranty. Additionally, Hyundai will provide owners of affected vehicles reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses incurred to obtain a remedy for the recall condition in accordance with the reimbursement plan submitted to NHTSA on February 24, 2022. How Remedy Component Differs from Recalled Component :
Identify How/When Recall Condition was Corrected in Production : The remedy mounting clips have been improved to maintain retention of the roof moldings.
For Hyundai Tucson vehicles, redesigned mounting clips providing improved molding retention were fully implemented by HMMA by September 25, 2021. For Hyundai Santa Cruz vehicles, the roof flanges were redesigned for improved molding retention and fully implemented by August 10, 2022. Recall Schedule :
