) is recalling certain 2021 Genesis
G80 and GV80 vehicles equipped with 2.5-litre turbo engines. The fuel tube connecting the high pressure fuel pump to the fuel rail may not seal properly, which could allow fuel to leak.
Remedy
Hyundai
will notify owners, and dealers will replace the high pressure fuel tube, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 24, 2021. Owners may contact Hyundai
customer service at 1-855-371-9460. Hyundai
’s number for this recall is 008G.

Description: On certain 2021MY GV80 (JX1) and G80 (RG3) vehicles, the fuel tube connecting the high pressure fuel pump to the fuel rail may have been produced outside of normal specifications and may result in a possible fuel leak. Replace the high pressure fuel pipe to correct this condition using the procedure outlined in this bulletin.

- 2021MY GV80 (JX1) 2.5T vehicles produced from January 22, 2021 to February 4, 2021
- 2021MY G80 (GR3) 2.5T vehicles produced from January 29, 2021 to February 3, 2021

Service Procedure:
1. Deplete the residual fuel pressure in the fuel lines following the procedure outlined in the Shop Manual section.
- Engine Control / Fuel System > Fuel Delivery System > Release Residual Pressure in Fuel Line
NOTICE
Be sure to wrap the connection joints with a shop towel to capture any dripping fuel.
2. Disconnect the fuel hose (A) and PCSV hose (B).
3. Disconnect the engine wiring connector and harness fasteners of the intake manifold.
4. Then remove the engine upper connectors & wiring.
5. Remove the intercooler reservoir tank (C)
6. Disconnect the quick connector (D) and remove the intercooler hose (E).
7. Remove the PCSV (F) and hose (G).
8. Remove the oil level gauge (H).
9. Loosen the water outlet pipe mounting bolt (I).
NOTICE
Tightening Torque:
79.6 lb-ft (107.9 Nm)
10. Disconnect the vacuum hose (J).
11. Loosen the mounting bolt and remove the connecter bracket (K).
12. Remove the intake manifold mounting bracket (L)
13. Remove the intake manifold assembly (M).
CAUTION
- Make sure to check the intake manifold gasket location (N).
- Make sure to install the gasket in the correct orientation.
- Be careful not to allow foreign substances to enter the intake manifold assembly.
When reassembling, loosely tighten the bolts according to the right picture’s order. Then tighten them to the specified torque in the same order.
NOTICE
Tightening Torque:
15.5 lb-ft (21.5Nm)
14. Remove the injector foam (O).
15. Disconnect the high-pressure pump connector (P).
16. Remove the ignition coil foam (Q).
17. Loosen the high-pressure fuel pipe bracket mounting bolts (R) and loosen the flange nut (S).
NOTICE
Tightening Torque:
(R) 7.9 lb-ft (10.75 Nm)
(S) 21.7 lb-ft (29.6 Nm)
18. Loosen the high-pressure fuel pipe mounting bracket bolt (T).
19. Loosen the nut (U) on the fuel pipe connection area.
NOTICE
Be sure to wrap the connection joints with a shop towel to capture any dripping fuel.
NOTICE
Tightening Torque:
(U) 21.7 lb-ft (29.4 Nm)
20. Remove and discard the high-pressure fuel pipe (V).
21. Install the supplied pipe and reinstall the removed parts in reverse order of removal.

Refer to the shop manual for the detailed installation procedure.

22. The service procedure is now complete.
- After starting the engine, check for any fuel leaks from the fuel pipe connection points.
What is the condition?
The fuel tube connecting the high pressure fuel pump to the fuel rail in the subject vehicles may have been produced with end tips that do not completely seal when installed. An incomplete seal could allow fuel to leak, increasing the risk of a fire in the presence of an ignition source.
